Yes! I tried this blog yesterday but no success and now you are visible again. Great theme to shoot tools. The first one looks like a curious dinosaur ;) Personally I think it also has more expression than the second one that is a nice, well lit collection of items that could have more impact when placed a bit different (more like a rigid line up or more interacting or less items).
1) What a great way to shoot the tool, I love the way the lighting brings out the metal and the slight grunge of the background fits it well. Great job!
2) Nice composition in this. It makes me want to grasp those little parts and fiddle with them :)
Day 1: That's a great shot of a metal object, which is always a difficult thing to achieve. I like the faint texture/speckles on the background. Nice way to start the challenge.
Day 2: Another great collection of tools, although I find that the flare on the metal is a little more overpowering today due to your use of flash that also makes harsh shadows. Try shooting near a bright window, although, if, like me, you have to wait till after dark before getting down to business, that can be hard to do.

Day 1 - looks like the head and jaws of some prehistoric animal. Nice high contrast. Day 2 - nice tools ... not quite balancing light and dark jumps out at me.

Nice critter on the first (as I noted elsewhere), the second reminds me of a poor robot that got dismantled. :)

So you are spending a lot of time cleaning up these tools for their portraits? Good job on the metal, that is usually pretty hard to shoot properly.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites as far as composition goes. The lighting in each is outstanding also
ReplyDeleteGreat compositions and the harsh lighting works well against the metal
ReplyDeleteLove the first one, it was a great start to the challenge, very striking with strong metal tones
