Day 10. The Boars Head, circa 1674

The Boars Head on Church St, Newchurch The date stone has the date of 1674 but it opened as a public house in 1711. It was most likely built as a residence/ hotel and included  the drinking establishment later. It has in the past been used as school rooms. The local church was built in 1511 which served the population of about 80 souls.

  1. I'm loving the sign. The road seems so incredibly narrow. Is it only for walking?

    1. Immediately in front of the building is a footpath then a parking area then a grass area then another footpath and then the road for the traffic. It's quite wide really.

  2. Now this looks like row houses, that they have some places back east. Is this in a long line of connected buildings, or maybe in this case more stand alone with the three together...hummm

  3. How quaint, I love old buildings such as this. Nice angle to show off that sign :)

  4. I like the sign sticking out of the side - it emphasises the age of the building somehow.
